It all started in Ohio on Lake Erie. . . John bought his first yacht (or boat) in 1975 -- a Venture 22'. He trailered that boat all over, from Pymatuning Lake on the Ohio / Pennsylvania border to Sandusky at Cedar Point Marina. After a few years and acquiring a real boat slip at Cedar Point Marina, he purchased his second yacht, a Catalina 27'. He sailed around the west end of Lake Erie with the Catalina and about three years later, purchased yacht #3 -- an Alberg 35' in 1982. John tried yacht brokering on a part time basis at this time. Sold a couple boats in addition to his own previous boats. Then he got the itch to go "cruising". He fixed up and outfitted the Alberg to live on and cruise for a year. He left Ohio in 1984 on his boat and cruised down the East coast on the ICW. Spent a winter in the Florida Keys, then went up to Annapolis, Maryland. Lived on his boat in Annapolis for five years. While in Annapolis he got into yacht brokerage full time with Annapolis Yacht Sales. In 1988, while still in Annapolis, John sold the Alberg and bought a Pearson 424 and continued to live aboard. In 1990, he moved to Palmetto, Florida and continued to live aboard at Regatta Pointe Marina. He stayed in the yacht brokerage business and worked at Massey Yacht Sales as a broker. John sold his Pearson in 1991, but continued to live near the water and be around boats. As John likes to stay with the new trends, in 1996 he moved to the Miami area and signed on with The Catamaran Company as a yacht broker.
In all, John has spent some 15 years selling yachts having always maintained a tie to companies which have been involved as a New Yacht Dealership with a strong influence in the Brokerage Marketplace. These companies have always had outlets for placement in in-house charter fleets from the Chesapeake to the Caribbean. John has traveled to many ports around the world to "close" deals on yachts. He has many more sources of yachts than just BUC and Yacht World. He is in the "loop" and hears news early. Contact him for your best source in yacht buying or selling. If there has been any one common thread which would tie John's professional career as a Yacht Broker together it would be in his sincerity, honesty and often referred to as "candor" in dealing with his customers. Looking for a Yacht? Come enjoy the experience!! |
